Don't be surprised if I love you for all that you are
This leopard print cardigan is sheer and has black shoulder pads and a black satin tie waist. I found this on eBay and bought it from a seller in China for $10. I wore it with this black dress with a black sequin belted waist. I've owned this dress for probably close to 10 years now and it is one of the oldest things in my wardrobe. I am wearing faux leather leggings and my brand new nude strappy heels.

Steven Tyler leaves American Idol
This post has nothing to do with fashion. So yesterday Steven Tyler officially announced that after 2 years of being a judge on American Idol, that he would not return as a judge for season 12. I wasn't exactly surprised by this news, and for the most part I am actually glad he will be once more focusing on Aerosmith 100%. But I will miss getting to see him on TV. I loved watching idol just to hear the crazy funny stuff he would say and then see people's reactions.
I also loved getting to see all the amazing outfits he would wear on the show. So I will miss seeing him every week on TV, but I am glad that I no longer feel like I have to watch American Idol. I was done with the show when Simon left, but once they announced Steven as a judge I kept watching because I love Steven Tyler.
Today Jennifer Lopez announced she is out too. I feel like American Idol is no longer about the best singer winning, but a popularity contest of what boy is most teen crushworthy that then will win. But I did enjoy the judges chemistry together, Randy, Steven and JLo got along so well. I loved them as judges together and Steven and JLo were like 2 peas in a pod.
What a great moment. Steven didn't expect Joe to show up and started tearing up. It makes me so happy that Joe showed up on Idol for Steven's B-day. Joe gave Steven a lot of crap for doing the show and they are at most times at odds with each other even though they love each other like brothers. So him showing up for Steven's b-day on American Idol was huge. So great.
I wonder what Idol plans to do now that Steven and J Lo are out... it doesn't look like the show will survive much longer.

I like them better together than Steven and his horrible fiance Erin Brady. The woman never looks happy or happy to be with him. He needs to find a woman that smiles and is happy to be with him...like J Lo. Oh wells. (that's my little off topic rant.)
Back to American Idol and Steven & J Lo leaving...I will miss watching them, Steven was the only reason I still watched. Soooo, not watching it anymore.
This was one of my fave non-singing related moments on idol this season:

Steven Tyler on Clothes & Fashion
Since Steven Tyler is one of my biggest inspirations in fashion, I thought it would be fitting to post an interview of him talking about his own fashion inspirations and how his look came about.
I’ve always gotten in trouble for doing what was in my heart. I grew up jumping out of the highest tree and diving off the highest diving board, and every year I climb up a couple more feet to get to the biggest thrill. It has gone from being on roller coasters to being in Aerosmith. Without thinking too much, I just jump.
Steven Tyler’s Favorite Mistake: Blowing Money on Clothes
(Interview by Kara Cutruzzula April 9, 2012)
I’ve always gotten in trouble for doing what was in my heart. I grew up jumping out of the highest tree and diving off the highest diving board, and every year I climb up a couple more feet to get to the biggest thrill. It has gone from being on roller coasters to being in Aerosmith. Without thinking too much, I just jump.
So I’m very grateful for this favorite mistake: designing
clothes with my designer Francine Larnis. All those early clothes in the ’70s
were her designs and my designs, but that story has never been written.
My style started right in the beginning of the band in 1971
because it was all hippie stuff and I couldn’t afford anything. Francine
suggested that we go to a fabric store, so I went with her and picked out this
fabric and that fabric, and spent like $20 on seven yards of something I could
never afford. We didn’t have any money at all—we didn’t even have money to eat
back then. She had a sewing machine, and out of the goodness of her heart,
Francine would design clothes for me. When Aerosmith did the next gig, I gave
her the money that I made from that.
The clothes you see now started with that girl Francine, by
me looking at her and going, Should I do it?, and her going, Why not? Early on,
it wasn’t Mick Jagger—it was Janis Joplin who was my biggest influence. I
always thought that who I am was inspired by Janis. She just was it. I saw her
beads and bangles in the ’60s when hippies came into play, and I loved it. It
was me taking what Janis did, wearing it as a boy, and saying, “I don’t care,
it’s what I like.”
From that, it created a style. My daughter was saying,
You’re not wearing that, are you? You look like a girl! My response was, You
know what? Here it is, here I am. When I found a good shirt, I wore it to death
until it turned into a rag, and I hung it from the mike stand. Then I turned
that into a scarf, and that scarf turned into something else. At first, it hurt
so much to think that someone might feel that it wasn’t cool, but I went, F--k
it. I didn’t care what people thought. I think that came from my Italian core
of not being a quitter and to just stay with it.
Later, the press would all say, Dude looks like a lady, and
they wouldn’t know what to think, but my favorite mistake was taking a risk and
designing those clothes with Francine. I always had doubts, but I realized
early on that the greatest things are unknowns. It’s so beautiful to take a
risk and find out later how it all turns out.

Happy 4th of July!
A before photo of the american flag top:
And here is after:
This is the purse I am carrying today:
This morning I went to our town's 4th of July parade with my mom. We usually go every year, but it was sooo hot out today and I was standing in the direct sun breathing in all that humidity. At one point I got dizzy and so sick to my stomach I thought I was going to throw up. I had to go squat in the shade and my mom bought a bottled water for me. The parade wasn't anything special this year, but I got to spend time with my mom regardless.
Tonight me and my best friend are driving up to Indianapolis to watch the fireworks downtown. The last two years we drove up for the Indy fireworks and they're really great. We will park in a garage as far up as we can then walk to the top and sit and watch the show. They launch the fireworks off the 3rd tallest building downtown Indy. It's a good time, I just hope it cools down a lot before then. Like I said, it's too hot.
Happy 4th of July everyone! Stay cool.
